Oban Bay and Kerrera

The immediate view looks over Oban’s waterfront, harbour and ferry routes. Kerrera lies across and shelters the bay, creating the distinctive layered seascape seen from the tower.

Mull, Lismore and Morvern

Beyond Kerrera lies the Isle of Mull. To the north and north-west, the panorama can include Lismore, Lismore Lighthouse and Morvern. Weather, cloud and west-coast haze determine how much is visible.

Reading the panorama

A panorama installed through work by the Rotary Club of Oban and Oban Community Council identifies Kerrera, Hutchison’s Memorial, Lismore, Morvern, Lismore Lighthouse, Duart Castle and Mull. It is a useful on-site guide to the view.

Photography and conditions

The arches create natural frames for views of the bay. Light changes quickly; clear air after rain can improve distant visibility. Visitors should stay within maintained areas and avoid obstructing paths while taking photographs.
