What the regatta is
West Highland Yachting Week is a moving regatta combining passage races with races around laid marks. The 2026 series runs from 25 to 31 July and connects Craobh, Oban and Tobermory.
What spectators can see
Yachts may be visible in Oban Bay and the Firth of Lorn when the day’s course brings the fleet to the area. Racing remains dependent on weather, sailing instructions and official notices, so check the organiser’s programme rather than relying on a fixed spectator timetable.
Travel and clothing
Public waterfront viewpoints are accessible from central Oban. Conditions can change rapidly on the west coast: waterproof layers, secure footwear and sun protection are all sensible.
McCaig’s Tower as a viewpoint
The tower offers a wide elevated outlook across the bay. It is useful for understanding the setting, although distance and haze can make individual yachts difficult to identify. The event page links to the current official information.
