The climb from town
McCaig’s Tower stands above central Oban on Battery Hill. Walking routes involve steep streets, and some approaches include steps. The short map distance can therefore understate the effort required.
Footwear suited to wet or uneven surfaces is sensible. Allow time, particularly in poor weather or when travelling with children.
Driving closer to the monument
Road access is possible from the Duncraggan Road side, with limited parking near the site. Surrounding roads are residential and narrow. This guide cannot guarantee that a space will be available or that current arrangements meet a particular access need.
What remains unverified
No authoritative current access audit was identified during the preparation of this guide. Step-free gradients, surface condition, seating, accessible parking dimensions and wheelchair suitability therefore require local confirmation.
